Logo
[edit]I've removed the VS logo - it disturbs the flow of the page. Somebody with wiki skill replace it with a scaled-down version, and have it float to the right. --Desplesda

Factions
[edit]I've noticed a certain similarity between the factions and Bruce Sterling's book, Schimatrix. Mechanists and Shapers... could someone verify that and insert it to this excelent game? --damjancd
- While there are clearly similiar trans-humanist themes at play, similarities between particular factions and the referenced work are not intentional. Prior to reading the above, I must admit to ignorance of the existence of Bruce Sterling and all of his works, including his Shaper/Mechanist universe. My only knowledge of said universe is derived from having now read the wiki entry for said universe. If the rather terse wiki entry for the Shaper/Mechanist universe is accurate, then, while both the VS and Sterling Shapers are gene-smiths and the VS Mechanists (actually a nickname for a group going by "Mandate for Corporeal Perfection via the Abandonment of Flesh") and Sterling Mechanists both engage in cybernetic augmentation, both name sharing pairs of societies appear to be rather divergent (e.g. VS libertarian Shapers vs. Sterling aristocratic Shapers, VS Mechanist fundamental desire for corporeal embodiment beyond flesh vs. Sterling Mechanist existence as computer simulations). This would seem particularly true for the VS Mechanists, who are not remotely the technophiles the Sterling Mechanists appear to be (from my admittedly very limited knowledge), rather they are primarily inspired by a religious conviction that flesh is a prison, eternally rotting - all else is secondary. Licence ?
[edit]Hello,
What is the code licence of this game? Regards, Yann 17:43, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- The game code and content are licensed under the GPL. I believe that the music is dual-licensed as GPL and CC-NC-SA 1.0, but please check the standalone license in the music directory (see SVN or install dir) to confirm. -Fadookie Talk 10:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm going to be bold and apply the same (or as close as possible) license to the image about to be deleted (see below). SharkD (talk) 19:09, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Shit. It's a picture of the Enterprise. What do I do? SharkD (talk) 19:10, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Galaxy1.highlight.jpg
[edit]Image:Galaxy1.highlight.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

- Next time this happens, remember the game is GPL so fair use rationale is not needed. A license tag is however. SharkD Talk 06:50, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Category: MMORPG in space?
[edit]Why is this game in the category "MMORPG in space"? MMORPG means Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, but Vega strike doesn't have any online or multiplayer mode. Correct me if i'm wrong
Edit: "This release includes shaders with normal maps, better physics and more ships, beautiful artistic contributions by our talented artists, faster loading speeds, more intelligent autopilot for fast navigation and preliminary deathmatch multiplayer support for LAN parties." --from the homepage. LAN-Party ≠ online game!? 84.168.67.41 (talk) 12:26, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm skeptical that the game can support enough players to be truly called "Massively Multiplayer". Maybe a better comparison can be made with Battle.net or FreeLancer's persistent servers? SharkD (talk) 02:12, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
VegaTrek
[edit]The actual VegaTrek HP is vegatrek.wcjunction.com. I'll post some more actual information in some nearer time.

Would like info on their Procedural Terrain Generation
[edit]Found this link from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procedural_generation, was hoping for info on that. Thanks. 71.155.145.215 (talk) 09:20, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- I believe the game uses a seed to generate the galaxy (except for the Sol system), so it remains the same for everyone who plays. Kind of like Elite. SharkD Talk 14:17, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
