Redundant links?

[edit]

Why the links to articles on popes for which this article lists no encyclicals? --Jim Henry 23:05, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

to do

[edit]

Should probably say something about the distinction between "encyclical" and other terms used for various papal documents - allocution, bull, motu proprio, etc. --Jim Henry 23:05, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

People

[edit]

I removed listed Popes who had not issued encyclicals that were notible since they seemed to have no place in the list of encyclicals. Note that I only removed names of popes with zero encyclicals listed below them (I didn't go arbitrarily deleting encyclicals listed). If there was a purpose for their inclusion which escapes me, please revert and poke me on my talk page. Thanks. -SocratesJedi | Talk 01:04, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Factual errors

[edit]

The first Papal encyclical was Ubi primum by Pope Benedict XIV and was issued on 1740.12.03 as can be seen from the whole list.

So the start of the list Important papal encyclicals:

Is actually list of bulls not of encyclicals. Avihu (talk) 12:23, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lumen fidei

[edit]

Guys, today an encyclical was launched under the papacy of Pope Francis. Though three fourths of this encyclical was written by Pope Benedict XVI. Only the last chapter was written by Pope Francis.
