Talk:Dumpster (brand)
This is an informative, but rather US-centric article. The term 'dumpster' is not in common usage in the United Kingdom, where I would refer to it as a Trade-Waste receptacle, a skip or a rubbish bin. Can anyone shed more light on this, please? - Tim. 62.30.239.8 23:04, 1 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- The word dumpster is gaining usage in Britain (as is American influence in general) but the word would either be "bin" or "skip" as far as I'm concerned. -- Graham :) 23:08, 1 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Where I'm from, it's called a "Front load(er) container", but we don't speak english here anyway.. :) G®iffen 16:01, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
Simpsons reference
[edit]There was a Simpsons episode that referred to the Dumpster as genericized trademark issue. AIR, a character was found sleeping in one, and chided for this, replied, "No way, Dumpster brand trash containment units are top-of-the-line. This is just a Trash-O-Matic." If there's a Simpson fan out there who can add this forthwith, please do, otherwise I'll look it up. ProhibitOnions 12:35, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
I looked it up. It was the episode "The Otto Show," in which the following exchange occurs[1]:
- Bart: Otto-Man? You're living in a dumpster?
- Otto: Ho, man, I wish. Dumpster-brand trash bins are top-of-the-line. This is just a Trash-Co waste disposal unit.

Dumpster photo
[edit]Is this actually a Dumpster-brand waste receptacle? Are there identifying features that could be pointed out in the caption? 76.247.45.41 (talk) 10:06, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
