Merge proposal

Merge I'm not sure there is anything that needs to be salvaged from History of shoelaces, but it's unlikely we need a separate article on the history of the topic, and any new info in the history article can be added to this article about the primary topic. Is this correct? I've never heard anyone refer to shoelaces as shoestrings, and I'm skeptical that this is a US standard term. Natureium (talk) 20:57, 12 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The term shoestring is somewhat archaic, but not altogether out of use. According to Google Trends, in the past 12 months, people in the U.S. searched as follows: shoelace = 37%, shoe lace = 34%, shoestring = 21%, shoe string = 8%.
