Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Candyware

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Subneologism. What Google hits there are (12) mostly have nothing to do with this definition. --jpgordon {gab} 22:58, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. While the definition on the page seems to be completely invented, candyware can refer to a form of freeware/shareware where the program author can be sent candy or some other small gift from appractitive users of the software. The entry should probably get changed instead of deleting. 63.197.31.110 23:50, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
    • Even that usage seems vanishingly small -- maybe 5 or 6 references to it google-wide, and that's generous because some of the usages are on non-English pages that I'm mostly just guessing mean the free/shareware thing. --jpgordon {gab} 00:42, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: Entirely phantasy usage. Geogre 01:32, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. No real usage with that meaning or any other meaning. Many shareware authors construct nonce words if they don't want actual money payments—I've heard of "postcardware" and "beerware"—but they are not in widespread use. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 01:47, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Seems too much like a Dicdef. The Template:Software_distribution already has a number of software distribution methods that are not really encyclopedic (Hostageware comes to mind here). Also, not common enough usage to warrant moving to Wiktionary. --Feedle 05:42, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Who's Michael Corbett? Delete. RickK 06:43, Oct 13, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Neologism. --Improv 14:50, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Neologism. Author agrees with deletion (wrote on page "Apologies for incorrect use of wikipedia. Beleive the term Candyware will gain more use in the future. Delete it.") Gwalla | Talk 23:33, 14 Oct 2004 (UTC)
