Wikipedia:Article of the week
- Up to August 2004, this was the name of the collaboration of the week.
This is a failed proposal. Consensus for its implementation was not established within a reasonable period of time. If you want to revive discussion, please use the talk page or initiate a thread at the village pump. |
For week 50 of 2024, the Article of the Week will be one of the Featured Articles promoted during this week, selected by popular approval voting. Selecting the Article of the Week will identify the article which is "best" in the opinion of those who choose to vote, thereby helping editors better understand which attributes of articles lead them to receive popular acclaim.

Introduction
[edit]Qualifications for Articles
[edit]In order for an article to be elgible for votes, it must be a Featured Article that was promoted during the immediately prior week. As of right now, only Featured Articles having a promotion date during week 49 of 2024 are eligible for votes.
Articles that are not eligible for votes are:
- Articles that are not Featured Articles
- Articles currently undergoing a Featured Article Review
- Articles that are Featured Article Candidates
- Articles that were promoted to FA status prior to April 2007. Sorry, but the sheer number of FA articles (1,000+) makes this impossible.
Qualifications for Voters
[edit]In order to be eligible to vote, you must be a registered user with at least one contribution other that a vote'. Sockpuppet votes are not allowed and will most likely result in a block.
- Expressing opinions
Any Wikipedian with an account is welcome to add comments in support of any article. Comments in opposition to articles are not appropriate.
How to Nominate
[edit]Most articles that are promoted will already appear here. However, if an article has been left out of the list of nominees, then you can add the article like so.
I | Add nomination
Copy and paste the following template to the bottom of the list of nominations on this page and fill it out. ==={{la|Article}}=== <big>Number of votes: '''0'''</big> <!--Remember to update the vote counter when you vote!--> ; Support: # ; Comments: * (place any comments here) ~~~~ ---- Under "comments" section put explanation of what work is needed. |
---|---|
II | Notify
After submitting the new nomination, go to the nominated article and put {{WAWnom}} on the top of the article's talk page. |
How to Vote
[edit]Sign with "# ~~~~" on the end of the list of the article you want to vote for and then update the vote count in the subhead. Opposing votes are not counted; see approval voting. You can vote for as many articles as you like. Additionally you can give a comment in the comment section. Please note: this is not a contest to see which article is the most important in terms of subject, but instead a contest to see which article is the best written and the best article that covers the subject matter the best. Please do not consider subject matter as a criterion. You may use the Featured Article Criteria as a guide.
How an Article is Selected
[edit]Polling for the "Article of the Week" for the 4th week of April will begin the 1st week of May, for fairness reasons. The Article will be decided on the 2nd week of May. In the case of a tie vote, we will use consensus to determine the WAW.
Articles are not removed from the list at any time while they are open to the public for voting, unless the article in question has been ruled ineligible for the WAM.
All winning articles that are selected to be the "Wikipedia Article of the Week," as well as those that made 2nd and 3rd place, are automatically entered into the Article of the Month contest, which is held at the end of every month.
Articles Open for Voting
[edit]None. Proposal rejected.
