Central High School
[edit]Was marked for speedy but isn't a candidate. Non-notable high school. — Gwalla | Talk 00:55, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Nonnotable and therefore not encyclopedic. Indrian 00:56, Oct 26, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. School. Ambi 00:58, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete: Not speedy? Seems like a taunt. At any rate, just a school, improperly named, vague, no content. Geogre 01:43, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. NeoJustin 01:53, Oct 26, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, no potential to become encyclopedic. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 02:12, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Few schools meet the high bar of notability required to be encyclopedic --Improv 07:58, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect to Little Rock Central High School, which IS a notable high school. RickK 18:49, Oct 26, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. A school. Notability is [subjective]. Intrigue 22:54, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- D "In 2003 the Central team beat West and placed second in the divisionals!" Good for you. Have a cookie. Chris 01:30, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- keep. Mark Richards 01:42, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect to Little Rock Central High School, which is famous and the usual meaning of an unadorned "Central High School" (due to the integration battle), and move this content to Traverse City Central High School (or alternately Central High School (Traverse City), but a consistent naming scheme would be best). Optionally create a Central High School (disambiguation) to list them all on. --01:52, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)
- Maybe local schools or other features could be included in the articles about that specific town. - Skysmith 08:54, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I think that makes a lot of sense.' For one thing, it is more likely that there are people familiar with the town, and people that have the town article on their watchlist, than people monitoring Recent Changes or New Pages to see if their high school has appeared on it. If there are any Wikipedians who know Traverse City and would have any idea whether the information in the article is correct or up-to-date, they would be watching Traverse City, not Votes for Deletion. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 14:46, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Not notable enough to be kept, but if it is kept must be moved to a less ambiguous name. Average Earthman 09:05, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. A very large school, and schools are inherently notible. Give the stub time to grow before killing it. --ShaunMacPherson 20:32, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- keep. Look at this, and tell me you don't think just about any school could be expanded in a similar way. Posiduck 20:34, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I don't think just about any school could be expanded in a similar way. There. Happy? Chris 03:35, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Actually, no, I do not beleive any school could be expanded in this way. If this school is really recognized nationally for academic excellence and has the only student orchestra ever to perform at Carneigie Hall, it just meets notability standards as far as I am concerned and is acceptable because there are not stringent space limitations. I think out of the thousands upon thousands of schools that exist in the United States alone, there are probably only a couple of hundred that reach even this minimum level of notability. That is still quite a few entries that would be acceptable, but limits the coverage of the subject to what is important. That is exactly what an encyclopedia is supposed to do: weed out the unimportant and highlight the unusual and/or important. Indrian 20:41, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)
- My high school's orchestra played at carnegie, and so did our sister school's. Deerfield High School and Highland Park High School, both located in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Are all three in, or is Moanalua out, according to you? Also, I would appreciate it if you would check out my user page and respond to the questions I have there for school deletionists. Posiduck 06:26, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I would say they are all out then. I did say if these facts were true and it does not surprise me that they are not. It is a well-written article, and I do not want to cause undue strife, so I would not vfd it myself; I would vote delete if it were nominated by someone else, however. Indrian 21:53, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, of course. This has gotten ridiculous. anthony 警告 20:35, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, since it's notable, but move to Central High School, Traverse City or some such, and leave this page as a redirect to that until we get articles on the other Central High Schools. Factitious 21:07, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)

- "Merge and delete" violates the Wikipedia:Deletion policy and the GFDL (think "section entitled History"). anthony 警告 16:34, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- That's nonsense! The histories can be merged, it just takes some time from someone with admin privs. --Improv 17:00, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Where is there documentation of how this can be done? Should we change the deletion policy? anthony 警告 19:44, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- At least rename: there must be hundreds of schools by this name. So far article gives no sign of notabiity, and if there is none, I'd merge into Traverse City, Michigan and delete. -- Jmabel | Talk 02:18, Oct 30, 2004 (UTC)
- You might do this, but we can't, as it would violate the GFDL. anthony 警告 02:52, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- If it is necessary to resolve this dispute, Anthony, I am perfectly willing to release my contributions to that article into the public domain, or any other license that would allow them to be transferred without explicit attribution. I don't know if the others would be willing, but I'm sure I could find much of the information in that article and contribute it again if the information is better suited to the city article (which I'm not sure of at all). - Keep. Valid stub. No reason to delete. Where are these notability standards that everyone speaks of? Where is this threshold for good enough? This school has some encyclopedic notability, that is enough for an article. --L33tminion 06:11, Oct 30, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, above user has it right. People have begun to delete the shit out of schools without considering them individually, a bad standard. —siroχo 12:10, Oct 30, 2004 (UTC)
- Actually, no. I examined this stub. It says it is the second-largest school in its city, gives the school colors, and mentions that an NBA player went there. This does not merit inclusion in my opinion. Just because my standards are different than yours does not mean I am deleting without considering. If this article were to change and meet my standards during the vfd period, I would change my vote. Comments like yours show a complete intolerance for the opinions of others and something of a holier-than-thou attitude. I understand why you want to keep the article; I just disagree with your position. You fail to see that there can even be another position. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong; I am only basing this on your previous post. Indrian 16:15, Oct 30, 2004 (UTC)
