[quote]British rugby league has been using a play-off rather that simply awarding the title to the top-placed team for the majority of its history. However awarding of a separate prize to the team finishing top only began in 2003; thus there have only been two winners to date
Dont want to change anything myself, but i do think that this needs adjusting. The Premiership that ran prior to the SL never had the kudos to compete with the league championship and that is why, initially, no trophy was every awarded to the top finisher in the Super League table, so that it couldn't conflict or upsure the new championship play-off system.
- Actually, if you check Rugby League Championship you'll find that a play-ff for the championship was first used in 1904-05, then used every season from 1906-07 to 1972-73, apart from 1962-63 & 63-64. The premiership was introduced when the championship was split into two divisions, and the play-off donme away with. Grinner 09:32, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)
