Mousesports
[edit]Hello, I looked at several articles about teams in the G7 Teams, and many of them have had trolls go after them, looking for deletion and merging with G7 Teams. I face a similar problem, because I sucessfully prevented a vandal Wikipedia user called TheRedPenOfDoom from convincing the administrators to delete the Mousesports page. Obviously, he doesn't just quit and he's now requesting it be merged with the G7 Teams page, just as the other teams have been requested in the past. Since you've contributed to this in the past, I was wondering whether or not you might like to comment on it in the Discussion page? I know you are more interested in military history, but I need a little bit of help, that's all. DarthBotto talk•cont 13:08, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Discussion regarding Zachary Taylor
[edit]From the history of the article on Zachary Taylor, you appear to be a notable contributor to it. As a result, I thought you might like to get involved in a discussion I have started on the talk page concerning a proposal to change the main picture in the infobox: [1] If you do get involved, thank you. AfD nomination of Cyberathlete Professional League
[edit]An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Cyberathlete Professional League. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cyberathlete Professional League. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:13, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
communicat dispute
[edit]Thanks your offer to fix dubious sources, parity sourcing. You'll be wasting your time if you try uploading any marxist and/or left=leaning sources to balance POV in line with rules. This is a long story, going way back, and it also includes an AFD'd WW2-related article. The conservative milhist Old Guard at WW2 article are and have for a long time been very well entrenched, and they defend "their" ideologically clouded territory with every means possible against intruders with new ideas or ideas that deviate from the conservative mainstream. Have a look at the various threads, particularly under headings: WW2 origins of Cold War, Flawed Overview, Editing Dispute, Anti-Communist prejudice, Communist-led Resistance, etc. You will see that I took a lot of time and trouble to provide Soviet / Marxist / Western revisionist sources to support proposed edits and discussion. Those sources were instantly and rudely dismissed and rejected by the Old Guard, using stupid false pretexts like "can't be found", meaning presumably can't be found on internet, and too much trouble to visit any good university reference library.
Between the Lies is relevant only indirectly and to the extent that it provides a useful example of how just one apparently revisionist / leftleaning proposed link will come under very intense scrutiny and vetting for reliability etc, whereas clearly unreliable and/or biased mainstream sources are allowed to pass unchallenged and without scrutiny.
A clear and binding ruling must now first be obtained from wiki via mediation/arbitration before anyone wastes anymore time or effort (as I already have) trying to balance edits objectively and in line with stated policy.
If you really want to obtain that Winer book, why not just download it free of charge from the internet? More than two million interested parties have gone that route so far, as I've learnt through correspondence with Coldtype.net and others while doing research for a print-media article about free e-book downloads. You'll even find a pirated Chinese Mandarin translated online edition if you try hard enough.
Thnaks for your interest. Communicat (talk) 13:38, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Request for mediation rejected
[edit]The Request for mediation concerning World War II (overview article), to which you were listed as a party, has been declined. An explanation of why it has not been possible to allow this dispute to proceed to mediation is provided at the mediation request page (which will be deleted by an administrator after a reasonable time). Queries on the rejection of this dispute can be directed to the Committee chairperson or e-mailed to the mediation mailing list.

brutal korea apology
[edit]Sorry, I've figured out now what happened. I was working from a hardcopy that I'd printed out a few days earlier, without realising that the two refs had in the meantime been changed by someone for some strange reason by joining two the refs together. In short, my hardcopy was different from your onscreen version. Hence we were literally not on the same page. I can see now that one has to check for the very latest online version of anything before jumping to false conclusions. Learning curve. Communicat (talk) 00:17, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, your apologoy is greatly appreciated. Wikipedia does take some getting used to. --Habap (talk) 01:36, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Yawn
[edit]You are such a bore. How come those who seem to do the least actual editing are usually the very same ones who are most vocal and/or caustic in their ongoing bids to discredit me? Communicat (talk) 18:39, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I contribute to the extent I have time and interest. If you check my editing history, sometimes I write and edit a lot. Other periods, I don't even login. I've written several articles and edited many more, but this shouldn't devolve into a pissing contest about who 'edits more'.
- Your writing style provokes me, because you write with such an arrogant and condescending style at times, when the failures you accuse others of are ones you are guilty of as well. --Habap (talk) 20:51, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

506th links
[edit]Why change it back? I discussed the move with an admin, who agreed it was unnecessary disambiguation. There were 5 different redirects produced by previous page moves, which is utterly ridiculous. Unless and until there is another 506th Infantry Regiment, there is no need to add the (United States) qualifier. Two admins agreed with me, or the db-move would not have been performed. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 17:11, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- The trouble is that every US military unit's page was changed to that format a few years ago and almost none of them have a need for the disambiguation. There was no need for it at the time, and there is no need for it now, but a decision was made back then to change all of them to include the disambiguation. We can, of course, go through every unit article and remove it where it is unneccessary, but I suspect that in another year or two, someone will consult two admins and decide that all of the articles need to have it placed in there again. Sounds like an awful waste of editing time to me. --Habap (talk) 17:59, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- I found where the naming standard was defined in the manual of style, with the numerical designator causing these articles to fall into the 'pre-emptively disambiguated' category [2]. I had to check my contributions history to see that a lot of it was done in January of 2007. --Habap (talk) 18:12, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Re Moran
[edit]Thanks for contacting me on my talk page, rather than just reverting.
I'll point out that I'm an outsider, geographically at least, and came upon the article by chance. The reason I reverted wasn't so much about the controversy itself, which is probably quite notable enough to merit inclusion (I've a vague recollection of seeing it reported this side of the Atlantic). I just feel it is unbalanced. Without knowing the context of what Moran said, it is difficult to judge his intent, and the section doesn't provide this. Also, it seems distinctly POV to note Murray's 'challenge' regarding Arlington without indicating what the response might have been. I'd have thought that if the facts were as clear-cut as the section makes out, a more neutral tone would actually get the point across more effectively, as well as being more in the spirit of Wikipedia standards. Some clarification.
[edit]You recent edit [4] demonstrates that you somewhat misunderstand the EEML issue. Petri had never been a member of the EEML. I would say, the opposite is true, he is among the most active and persistent opponents of this group of editors. In addition, by the time the conflict around the EEML issue was raging, he served a one year block for legal threat, so he simply physically was unable to be involved. The reason of my post is just to inform you about that.--Paul Siebert (talk) 22:44, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

your suggestion re RFC - communicat
[edit]Hi, Thanks for your suggestion noted. There are actually multiple issues, with multiple noticeboards, so if this is to be done properly, I'd have to fight the action on several fronts simulataneously. Which I'm no longer prepared to do.
In the meantime, as far as I'm concerned, for all practical purposes, and despite arbcom rejection, the main dispute has resolved itself. For the past two weeks since the filing Arbcom request, there has been no further harrassment, edit warring and disruption of my edits. Thanks for your interest. madman theory
[edit]Yeah, good one. Why not work it into aftermath? if you've got time. At least nixon didn't take his shoe off and beat it on the UN podium to get some attention. Communicat (talk) 21:54, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- I don't see how it would fit. It's 30 years after the war, so it's no longer the aftermath of WWII, but simply something that came about after WWII. --Habap (talk) 20:19, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
I have also posted both there and the NPOV noticeboard as well. I agree with your points, but there are additional concerns you did not address. Edward321 (talk) 03:58, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Multi Gaming Clan
[edit]Hi mate, I didnt know that someone had tried to create a page on multi gaming clans thats why I started one. Feel free to give me a hand as I would love to keep this page on wiki as its my first atempt of making a page :) I have more info to add to the page and I'm sure if a couple of people help me out we can keep the page active and keep updating it with current events and information on the subject.
Multi gaming is getting more know and played (if thats the right wording?) so I think we have a good chance of being able to keep a page of its own now :) GSL-Nathan (talk) 16:25, 10 December 2010 (UTC) P.S. New to all this message stuff on here so I hope I did it right?
- Yes, you did it right. What I was trying to say is that there is not enough difference between what appears in Clan (computer gaming) and what would go into Multi Gaming Clan, and Multi Gaming Clan is not a term used by the media (newspapers, web pages, books, etc), so the article would be likely deleted. --Habap (talk) 17:52, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
CCI
[edit]Hi Habap, I've opened a CCI concerning Communicat's edits at WP:CCI. Please note that I'm going to be out of town for the next day and a bit and so won't be able to respond to any questions about it - could you please keep an eye on the discussions there? Thanks, Nick-D (talk) 22:46, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- Saw your notes on what parts of Aftermath of WWII were plagiarism and removed the offending sentences. Thanks for spotting this. Edward321 (talk) 01:04, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- While the plagiarism flabbergasted me, it explains why Communicat had little idea about the contradictions in "his" sources and why he had to admit to never having read Wigfall Green for example. I will add to the CCI as I can - I am mighty busy the next few days also. --Habap (talk) 03:03, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Given that the matter is currently the subject of arbitration, it might be best for us involved parties to take a step back from the CCI so that uninvolved editors can confirm the copyvios. That said, given how blatant the copyvios are it doesn't really matter. Nick-D (talk) 02:13, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Communicat's Barnstar promise
[edit]I'm not holding my breath.[6] Edward321 (talk) 00:33, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not surprised that I assure you I've studied the references diligently, and I know what I'm talking about. is inaccurate. You deserve a barnstar for sure, if not one for each such source. --Habap (talk) 02:50, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Paragon (guild)
[edit]Sorry, didn't quite finish my edit. Was supposed to be about competition, which was why Ensidia (although, yes, it should have been http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/03/26/paragon-scores-world-first-heroic-fall-of-the-lich-king/ which is more directly addressing Paragon's first instead of Ensidia's "first/disqualified") and the fluctuating rankings note was there (not just purely for the fact that the rankings change, of course ;) ). Techhead7890 (talk) 00:25, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
- You've done a lot to make the article better. I just don't know if it will be enough to make it notable. I hadn't realized it was only a few minutes after you'd written the sentence fragment, but wanted to make sure it didn't look sloppy as others checked it. Good luck! --Habap (talk) 02:03, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
This Arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following remedies have been passed:
- Communicat (talk · contribs) is prohibited from editing or commenting on articles about World War II or the Aftermath of World War II. This prohibition is of indefinite duration, but may be appealed to the Committee by Communicat after six months;
- Communicat is placed under a behavioral editing restriction for a period of one year.

The (nationalistic only) Russians
[edit]It's so sad that history has finally exposed a few nationalistic extremists (not all Russians) as Holocaust deniers! If you read Germany 1945, The Fall of Berlin 1945, and watch Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State, you will understand what the Russians did to Jews, Poles, Russians, Communists, and other victims of the Nazis. You will also realize that the nationalistic Russians who deny the these crimes against Holocaust victims, immediately after the Holocaust (effectively a perpetuation), are Holocaust Deniers.
- --Нэмка Алэкс/Nemka AlexTalk 01:24, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
- It doesn't surprise me at all that Russian nationalists would be Holocaust deniers. There is a long history of Anti-Semitism in Russia, as there is in most of Europe (I only saw most because I don't know whether there are countries without it). I studied the Soviet Union in college (back when it still existed), so am familiar with the history of Russia and this strain of nationalism. --Habap (talk) 14:37, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations opening soon
[edit]Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are opening in a few hours (00:01 UTC on 1 September). A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:51, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Correction to previous election announcement
[edit]Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:41, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
