Vesak and Vaisakhi

[edit]

Why has Vesak been included on this article? What connection do the two festivals have? They aren't from the same religions, they don't follow the same calendar systems and they celebrate two very different things. The only thing they have in common is that they both use a similar name because both names derive from the Sanskrit word, "Vaisakha". Just because they both use similar names, they do need to be both addressed on the same article. There is already a note above that reads, "This article is about a Sikh and Hindu festival. For the unrelated Buddhist festival, see Vesak". It already points out the fact that Vesak is an unrelated festival, by including information about Vesak on the page under a confusing name like "Buddhist Vaisakha" is only going to confuse the reader into thinking Vesak is the Buddhist version of Vaisakhi, when it's not. I can't think of any other pages on Wikipedia that include information on unrelated topics just because they share the same or similar name. So if were to include Vesak on Vaisakhi it would mean we would have to create a section on corn tortilla and include information on the Spanish tortilla because they both share the same name. I have removed it because it is not needed on this article. (101.160.21.43 (talk) 06:27, 1 July 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Date is wrong

[edit]

Veskaki is on the 14th of April not the 13th 2605:8D80:626:542D:F8E1:3E7:A2AD:D3AC (talk) 12:41, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The dates for vaisakhi in 2021 and 2022 are not correct. The sources cited refer to another holiday on those dates but also to the correct date. The correct dates can be seen on the same page but note that there is another holiday with a similar name on the referenced date. In 2021 Vaisakhi was on April 13 and in 2022 Vaisakhi is on April 14.
