Razzies

[edit]

Hey, thanks for the Razzies articles. You might want to consider placing links to the Razzies on 2002 in film and other years in film. You also might want to change the links in the articles ("the worst the film industry had to offer in 2001" or whatever) to hidden links to 2001 in film using this format:

[[2001 in film|2001]]

Thanks again!

--Dante Alighieri | Talk 00:17, 6 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Sounds good, but I'm going to get the rest of them up before I start playing around with stuff. -- Cyrius 03:32, 6 Mar 2004 (UTC)

VfD

[edit]

Thanks, I got it off. I just sometimes have VfD up so long that the Edit links get out of date, and I don't notice it. Niteowlneils 06:03, 26 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit]

Thanks for moving my suggestion re an alternative construction of red links as search links to Wikipedia talk:Red link - which feels like an appropriate place for it. Based on the response to my earlier contribution re red links, I had felt confident that I would get a response, and was delighted to receive one that was constructive. I am still finding my way around Wikipedia - I've only been here a week, and am still very much involved in a Wikipedia learning process. Can you suggest any other talk page where I could engage in discussion on this? User:Information-Ecologist

Postal codes

[edit]

Before you start making trouble on the matter of ZIP codes perhaps you should read Talk:Lists of postal and ZIP codes of the world/Delete A vote was held on this, and it was decided that it should stay on Wikipedia. Wikisource is not just a dumping ground for what a few people on wikipedia don't like. Eclecticology 00:36, 2004 Mar 29 (UTC)

Wikipedia's VfD has absolutely no authority to change things on Wikisource or on any project other than itself. How these matters are settled on another project is up to the people who contribute to that project. I don't have any particular attachment to these lists on either project, but if they are to be accepted at all it is clear that they are better suited to Wikipedia than to Wikisource. As long as a reasonable of Wikipedians support keeping them then I think that they should stay. I consider the matter settled with the October vote, and do not intend to participate at VfD on this. I will keep the links from the pages with the removed data for the forseeable future, and will continue to resist attempts to reintroduce the lists into Wikisource. Eclecticology 04:03, 2004 Mar 29 (UTC)

VfD: Dumbass

[edit]

Loved your comment. But how about a disambig... The term dumbass has been applied to a number of active Wikipedians... (;-> Andrewa 18:44, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Don't know why I always forget to put the notice on the article, thanks. - Hephaestos|§ 04:57, 2 Apr 2004 (UTC)

9/11 victims

[edit]

Have you been watching? I think we can now claim that at least one of the '9/11 inclusion'-ists has had a say in the matter, anyway.

I'm wondering why the other hasn't yet taken the opportunity, and cynical enough to think it may be just so they can later claim not to have been consulted.

I notice that the attack is mainly focussed on the process of adoption of the policy, not on the policy itself, as I expected. There's really no doubt about what the policy is.

Suggestions still welcome, but feel free to leave it to me too. One of the tricks of staying cool is to remember that Wikipedia doesn't depend on any one of us (possibly excepting Jimbo, and even there I said possibly). If I drop out, someone else will do it eventually, if it really needs doing. Andrewa 04:56, 3 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Spelling fixes

[edit]

Hi, I noticed when going through a list of articles with misspellings I made that you have already fixed some of the common misspellings. I just wanted to say thanks for your work. If there's anything I can do to cooperate (such as removing certain words from my list) just let me know. Wmahan. 07:41, 2004 Apr 11 (UTC)

You and RickK seem particularly anxious about this article. Agree it should be deleted, but I don't see the hurry. Is there something I have missed? (It wouldn't be the first time.) Andrewa 01:52, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi Cyrius, Have now entered reason for VfD "Oretzko County" . Don't know whether that makes any difference to your comments. I had come a cropper with VdD. Dieter Simon 01:44, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi Cyrius. Had come adrift a bit with the comments on Oletzko County, but have now entered reason for VfD. I don't know whether that makes any difference to your comments. Dieter Simon 01:44, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I can see it if I set my browser font to Arial Unicode MS. It's not in Times New Roman, though. ☞spencer195 15:22, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop

[edit]

Congratulations! You are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. Good luck. Angela. 14:52, May 10, 2004 (UTC)

VfD-removal

[edit]

Can I ask, how come you blanked certain VfD's off the page [1] without carrying through with deleting them? Some have quite obviosly arrived at a consensus to delete. I'm kinda new, is there another step to the process that I'm unaware of? --Starx 03:55, 17 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the vote of confidence

[edit]

Heh. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I agree April 18th is a little too recent for adminship, so it's probably for the best. Feel free to nominate me come mid-July though. :) And probably wise of you not to get involved in the RickK/172 dispute. I was just too astonished by the immaturity they were displaying to not comment. Snowspinner 19:17, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Simpson vs Savoie

[edit]

Oops, yes. I was trying to go through VFD/old and decided that there was no consensus to delete, so removed the header from the page. Then there were server problems so I had difficulty updating the vfd page, then I got called away to do something else and forgot about that. Sorry! Pete/Pcb21 (talk) 07:44, 21 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Avala

[edit]

Good call removing the Texas box. Sadly, disrupting Wikipedia to prove a point is par for the course for Avala - I started an RfC page on him. You might want to contribute. Snowspinner 17:22, 22 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Template / MediaWiki

[edit]

Well, I was just trying various things to get it to work. Creating it in the MediaWiki space apparently did not do the trick as it once did, and from there on I just tried random things. Having Template: redirect to MediaWiki: did work (just having it in Template: didn't seem to work, but I may have made an unrelated mistake when I tried that). Sorry, I don't know the details of the new set-up, nor even that there was one until this experience. VV 03:56, 30 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information. VV 03:57, 30 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know, I moved it to Template: and had it work only intermittently, sometimes dropping in a "1. Redirect" message instead of the box. So I'm moving it back to MediaWiki:. If this bug (?) gets fixed, I or someone can just move it back later. VV 04:24, 30 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
